This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Where the design pushes at that — a WebGL backdrop, a lot of motion — there is a switch that turns it off, and the switch is remembered.

1. Commitment
I have spent two years building assistive learning software, so an inaccessible portfolio would be an odd thing to hand anyone. The target for this site is WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Where it falls short, section 5 says so plainly rather than quietly.
Adjust this site now
Every setting below is applied instantly and saved in your browser. The panel is also in the header on every page.
2. What you can change
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Motion | Stops the reveal animations, the marquees, the smooth-scroll hijack and the moving backdrop. Defaults to whatever your operating system asks for; you can also force it either way. |
| Contrast | A high-contrast palette in both dark and light mode, with stronger borders and no film grain. |
| Text size | Scales the interface to 112% or 125%. Display headings are held at their current size so nothing spills off a narrow screen. |
| Visual effects | Removes the WebGL backdrop, the grain, the grid overlay and the custom cursor, and releases the graphics context entirely. |
| Links | Underlines every inline link, so colour is never the only way to spot one. |
| Sound | Silences the ambient pad and the interface ticks. Sound is on by default and starts at your first interaction with the page; this switch, the header chip and the mobile menu all turn it off, and the choice is remembered. |
| Typeface | Swaps the display and mono faces for a wide, evenly spaced reading font, drops the all-caps styling and opens up letter and word spacing. |
3. Built in
- Skip link. The first stop on the keyboard, jumping past the header to the main content.
- Keyboard support. Every control is a real button or link, reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible accent focus ring. The settings drawer traps focus while it is open, closes on Escape, and hands focus back to what opened it.
- Landmarks and headings. Header, navigation, main and footer are marked up as landmarks; headings run in order so screen reader users can move by structure.
- Decoration is hidden. The backdrop, grid, cursor and generated cover art are marked as decorative, so assistive technology skips them instead of narrating noise.
- System preferences respected. Reduced motion and colour scheme follow your device before you touch anything, applied before the first frame is painted so there is no flash.
- Text alternatives. Meaningful images carry descriptions; scrambling and per-character animated text exposes its settled wording to screen readers, not the intermediate noise.
4. Keyboard shortcuts
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Tab | Move forward; the skip link comes first |
| A | Cycle theme: system, dark, light |
| / | Toggle the ambient audio, which is on by default |
| Escape | Close the menu or the settings drawer |
Single-key shortcuts are suppressed while a settings surface has focus, so they cannot fire by accident while you are adjusting something.
5. Known limitations
- The animated intro counter runs for about two seconds on first load. It is skipped entirely under reduced motion.
- Ambient sound is on by default, which not everyone wants. It never plays over anything you need to hear, it fades in over three seconds, and it can be silenced from the globe in the bottom bar, the header, the mobile menu or the / key.
- The WebGL backdrop is decorative and hidden from assistive technology, but on low-end hardware it can still cost frames. Turn visual effects off and it is not created at all.
- Some project descriptions use technical shorthand that a general reader may need to look up.
- The CV renders as a print-oriented A4 layout, which is fixed-width by nature and does not reflow like the rest of the site.
- Third-party sites linked from here are outside my control and may not meet the same standard.
6. How this was assessed
Self-assessed by me, using keyboard-only passes, browser zoom to 200%, both colour schemes at both contrast levels, reduced-motion runs, and automated audits. It has not been reviewed by a third party.
7. Feedback
If something here blocks you, tell me and I will fix it. Email agzaiyenth@gmail.com with the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. I aim to reply within five working days.
