Privacy

1. The short version

• I do not sell, rent or share your personal data. Ever.
• There is no advertising network and no cross-site tracking here.
• The only things stored in your browser are your own settings and your cookie choice — see the Cookie Policy.
• If you email me, I hold that email so I can reply to it. That is the only personal data I actively collect.

2. Who is responsible

3. What is processed

Information you choose to send

The site has no contact form. If you write to me by email, or connect on a social platform linked from here, I receive whatever you put in that message: your name, your email address, and anything else you include. I use it to reply and, where it leads to work, to run that engagement.

Technical data from serving the page

The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Like any web host, its content delivery network processes the technical details of each request — IP address, user agent, referring page, the URL requested, timestamps — to deliver the page, keep the service up and defend it against abuse. I do not use those logs to identify or profile visitors, and I have no way to link them to a person.

Settings kept in your browser

Your theme, your accessibility preferences and your cookie choice are stored in your browser as local storage, on your device. They are never transmitted to me or to anyone else, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Analytics

No analytics or measurement script is deployed on this site today. If that ever changes, it will run only for visitors who have opted in through the cookie banner, this page will be updated first, and the effective date at the top will change.

5. Who else sees it

Only the providers needed to run the site and my inbox, acting on my instructions:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting, delivery and request logs.
• Google (Gmail) — my email, if you write to me.
• Google Fonts — typefaces are self-hosted at build time by the framework, so your browser does not call Google to render this page.

I will also disclose data where the law requires it. Because these providers operate globally, data may be processed outside Sri Lanka, under the safeguards in their own agreements.

6. How long it is kept

• Emails: as long as the conversation is useful, and where an engagement follows, as long as my records for it require.
• Host request logs: on the host’s own retention schedule.
• Browser settings: until you clear them, or reset them from the accessibility panel and the cookie banner.

7. Your rights

Subject to the law that applies to you — including the Sri Lanka Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022, and the UK and EU GDPR where they apply — you can ask me to:

• confirm what personal data of yours I hold, and get a copy;
• correct anything inaccurate;
• delete it, where I have no reason to keep it;
• restrict or object to a particular use;
• withdraw consent you gave, without affecting what came before.

8. Children

This site is not directed at children and I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent me personal data, write to me and I will delete it.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, it holds no database of visitors, and it has no login to compromise. No transmission over the internet is ever completely secure, so please do not send me anything sensitive by email.

10. Changes

Updates are published on this page with a new date at the top. Where a change materially affects you, the cookie banner will ask again.
